World War I

Introduction to World War 1

After the World War 1, the world was never the same again. Because of the first Great War, the chain of events and the aftermath of WWI became a part of the history of every country. In a way, our world will not be what it is right now if such events did not happen. It’s hard to imagine how the world will be if it did not experience the first great war. To further understand how we came to be, we have to understand the history behind World War 1 starting from the pre-events that lead to the first Great War.

From 1914-1918, four years of war which started from Europe and ran rampant into more than 30 nation states of the world. It ended November 11, 1918 and up till now there is still no clear reason why it was fought and what really started it. Many lives were lost; many families were affected for the sake of patriotism and honoring of treaties and alliance that was made in the hopes to make a peaceful world. It was supposed to be the war that will end all wars. It is a novel cause but with a twist of fate.

Although there was no clear reason on why World War 1 came about, there are two abstract elements that may have caused it. The first one is the nationalistic feeling that each and every European (leader) had for their specific country. And the other is the poorly thought out system of alliances and treaties between European countries. These elements may have triggered the battle that spread around the world and later on was known as the first Great War or World War 1.

The world was divided into during World War 1, the first group is known as the Central Powers which is made of Germany, Austria-Hungary and Turkey. The other group is known as the Allies which included France, Great Britain, Russia, Italy, Japan and the United States. This part of the history is one event that many wish not to be written again.
